My Valentine’s Day Wreath

Blog 18 Jan 2012

For this wreath project your going to need a few simple supplies a wreath of course (I actually found this one at the dollar store) at least three bunches of artificial mini roses I used the acrylic ones as opposed to silk which are more expensive. A hot glue gun with plenty of sticks and one long scrap of matching fabric just long enough to tie a floppy bow.

You are going to first have to prep your flowers by taking them off of their stems and possibly trimming any leftover stem that is sticking out (you only want to work with the buds) I started gluing one flower at a time. Use one generous circle of glue at the bottom of each rose and press it into the wreath; hold for several seconds until set.

Continue gluing (this can take some time) you can always apply a little at a time.

Here you can see that I alternated two different pinks but one solid bunch would be pretty as well. For this wreath I also only flowered a portion of it which saves on cost, supplies, and time however I think flowering the whole thing would be beautiful too! For your finishing touch to the wreath choose a matching fabric scrap, I cut mine about 3 inches wide and about 2 and a half feet long. You can choose to pink the edges as well with pinking sheers. If you don’t have fabric for crafting you could choose to cut a strip from any old linen or garment you have around the house. You will want to tie the bow half way up on the side opposite of the flowers, I tied a standard bow as if tying a shoe lace and left it somewhat loose looking. Once your ready to hang you will need an over the door hanger for this wreath. Then just hang, adjust and enjoy your pretty work!
